It All Started for Caterpillar on Thanksgiving Day

Some say it all started for Caterpillar in a farm field in Northern California on Thanksgiving Day. In 1904, Benjamin Holt successfully tested what would become the first commercially successful dozer. He would later call his machines “Caterpillars” – hence the name our company has today. The future of tracked heavy equipment opened up before him and his legacy is, as they say, history.
