On March 30, the Caterpillar Foundation announced an $8.5 million (USD) donation to support global COVID-19 relief efforts. This commitment included a limited time 2:1 Foundation match on eligible U.S. employee and retiree donations. The response was overwhelming. And, as a result, the Foundation increased its initial matching funds cap from $1 million to $2.5 million (USD), bringing the Foundation’s total donation to $10 million (USD).
Hear more about the Foundation’s collaboration with partners and stakeholders around the world in this video message from Asha Varghese, Caterpillar Foundation president. Asha talks about our support of the communities where we live and work, as well as the incredible generosity of the Caterpillar team.
We’re proud for the donation to go towards critical work such as: organizations working to prevent, detect and respond to the pandemic; providing resources to hospitals, medical staff and patients; addressing food insecurity; and enabling online STEM and coding education for youth impacted by school closures. We’ve partnered with global organizations, like the UN Foundation, World Health Organization and Global Foodbanking Network, that are prioritizing their COVID-19 assistance based on country need.
Plus, we’re supporting local communities by engaging our facilities to donate to local charities in an effort to create the biggest impact in our own backyards.
