On February 6, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake caused major damage in Turkey and Syria. As the number of casualties and injured continues to rise, the Caterpillar Foundation is donating $400,000 to support the needs of those impacted.
Donations support the relief efforts by the global Red Cross network and Project Hope as they respond to the immediate and ongoing needs within Turkey and Syria.
“We are deeply saddened by the destruction and loss of life caused by the devastating earthquake,” said Caterpillar Foundation President Asha Varghese. “From the Caterpillar Foundation’s donation to support urgent humanitarian needs to our dealers across the region that are lending their help and expertise to recovery efforts, we’re grateful for the generosity of our global team.”
In addition to this donation, the Caterpillar Foundation is a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program. This program provides a funding base that allows the Red Cross to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families impacted by disasters. The Foundation is also matching employee, retiree and dealer employee gifts to the Red Cross.
