Alan Yang

Alan Yang is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc., responsible for the China Operations Division. He oversees the manufacture and delivery of full range Cat® hydraulic excavator products (S/M/L/SL/WHEX) at Caterpillar (Xuzhou) Ltd. (CXL) as well as medium wheel loader and motor grader products at Caterpillar (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. Yang also plays a leadership role in the deployment of business growth strategy as Caterpillar’s country manager for China.  ​

Yang has over 30 years of experience in the construction machinery industry. He joined Caterpillar in 1998 as deputy general manager for CXL. Yang has held various human resources management, 6 Sigma project management, and Lean manufacturing positions with increasing business scope and responsibilities in China and the U.S. Yang was the general manager for AsiaTrak (Tianjin) Ltd., CXL, and Victoria, Texas, before his role as vice president of operations for the Excavation Division. In 2022, the Caterpillar board of directors named Yang senior vice president responsible for the China Operations Division.

Born in China’s Jiangsu province, Yang graduated from Shenyang University of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in welding engineering. He holds a master’s in business administration from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and completed Caterpillar’s Executive Leadership Development Program in partnership with Duke University.
