CATERPILLAR INDIA COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS

We support environmental responsibility through sustainable development; leveraging technology and innovation to increase efficiency and productivity with less impact on the environment and helping our customers do the same. We also lead industry and community initiatives that share our commitment to making sustainable process possible in India and around the world.
As part of our Caterpillar India Private Limited Corporate Social Responsibility (CIPL CSR), we focus on community welfare through the three major pillars of development:
- Education
- Environment
- Basic Needs
Apart from the above-mentioned pillars, Caterpillar India provides support for Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation.
Education
Skill Development Program
Caterpillar India aims to reduce the immense skill gap through its skill development program implemented across India. As part of the skill development program provided through the hub and spoke model, the infrastructure of government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are upgraded in locations where the skill training is provided. The projects also address issues of women empowerment, adolescent health, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Similarly, in line with the government of India’s National Employability Enhancement Mission (NEEM), Caterpillar India is offering an intensive three-year diploma certification program in Manufacturing Technology at its facilities in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.
CIPL CSR focuses on increasing access to quality education through upgradation of infrastructure, provisioning of smart classes, supporting mid-day meal programs across several locations in India.
Environment
Caterpillar employees take part in several environment conservations drives through tree-plantation, cleanliness etc. Through these efforts, Caterpillar India creates awareness on the importance of environment conservation and restoration. Caterpillar India, through the provisioning of its machines and its technical expertise has been restoring water bodies in and around Thiruvallur, Hosur and Bangalore.
Basic Needs
Caterpillar believes, when people’s basic human needs are met, they are able to more effectively pursue economic and education opportunities. We contribute to basic human needs through Upgradation of rural infrastructure, advocating and implementing WASH programs, increasing access to safe drinking water among other issues.
Caterpillar India actively participates in disaster relief efforts. In the wake of recent disasters, we supported disaster relief efforts through, supplying of machines, supply of relief materials and supporting rehabilitation programs in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Kerala and Nepal.
