- How a Caterpillar Employee is Creating a Path for fFuture STEMinists
In celebration of Women’s History Month and in partnership with Discovery Education, the Caterpillar Foundation is recognizing Caterpillar employees whose achievements are inspiring the next generation of innovators and leaders in STEM fields.
Meet Joydma Alamo, a Logistics Center Manager, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.
As a Logistics Center Manager, Joydma oversees the distribution center for the cores and finished product for Caterpillar Reman in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. Remanufacturing is the process of returning an end-of-life product to same-as-when-new condition in a manufacturing environment. The remanufacturing process delivers multiple sustainability benefits by reducing waste, minimizing the need for raw material, energy and water associated with producing new parts. And, that’s good for the environment, Caterpillar’s customers and the company.
In her role, Joydma uses her math skills to manage inventory, as well as to measure productivity in order to identify opportunities to improve efficiency. She is an expert communicator and collaborator who thoroughly understands every part of the supply chain. Joydma’s dedication and compassion for her team embodies the true spirit of Caterpillar and is creating a path for future STEMinists.
The Foundation is committed to bridging the STEM gap by providing access to STEM-focused education and reskilling programs for girls and women globally. Through our partnerships we can ensure students are empowered to explore diverse STEM fields.
