Returning Professionals Development Program

Refresh. Rebuild. Relaunch.

Caterpillar values your perspective and experience, which is why we'll welcome you back with a career reentry program designed for anyone ready to restart their careers after taking a break from the workforce. The Returning Professionals Development Program (RPDP) seeks out and supports qualified individuals in their desire to re-enter the workforce following a career break.

"After stepping away from full-time engineering work to care for my young children, I returned to the work force through Caterpillar’s Returning Professionals Development Program (RPDP), and I’m currently working as a design engineer in the Industrial Power Systems Division.  I thank SWE, iRelaunch, and Caterpillar for launching this STEM-Reentry program targeting talented professionals who took career breaks for various reasons in their lives.  During my career break, I worked as an adjunct instructor at a technical community college, teaching electrical engineering technology students, which helped me continue my connection with STEM topics. My advice to candidates applying to the RPD Program is to stay connected and be relevant during your career break. RPDP is an excellent opportunity to get trained on a variety of new skills through internal training programs. It also facilitated a confident and smooth transition back to a full-time position by being mentored in a collaborative cross functional team environment. “  - Shahina Kozhisseri

READY TO PUT YOUR PASSION BACK TO WORK?

Are you an engineer at heart (and by degree), but not currently working in an engineering role? Ready to return to the profession? Our Returning Professionals Development Program (RPDP) may be just what you are looking for.

Top candidates are selected for a four-month internship where they receive exclusive mentoring and training while enjoying challenging engineering work. At completion of the internship, both the participant and hiring manager evaluate whether continuing to full time employment is a mutually good fit.

Your experience and perspective matter, which is why we encourage you to apply for our career reentry program.

Caterpillar is one of seven companies from the Society of Women Engineers Corporate Partnership Council to participate in the STEM Re-entry Task Force, which provides re-entry internships for job seekers with technical degrees. To learn more about the STEM Re-entry Task Force click here.
